Mathematics (Specific)

Mathematics involves providing children with opportunities to develop and improve their skills in counting, understanding and using numbers, calculating simple addition and subtraction problems; and to describe shapes, spaces, and measures.

Examples within the Foundation Stage setting include:

Learning to explore shapes and measure within real-life contexts (e.g. cooking)

Learning key concepts such as number and time in everyday situations

Opportunities to use mathematical concepts within their learning environment
