Spellings will be sent home every Monday and children will then be tested on these words the following Monday. Children’s scores will be monitored and those achieving full marks will be presented with a certificate. This will continue until
They have received 6 certificates (they do not have to be consecutive weeks) they will be given a red badge(presented in Friday CW)
They have received 12 certificates they will be given a blue badge(presented in Friday CW)
They have received 18 certificates they will be given a yellow badge(presented in Friday CW)
They have received 24 certificates they will be given a green badge (presented in Friday CW)
When the children have received 30 certificates , they will receive a special spelling trophy
Children are expected to read every evening and the pages they have read should be recorded in the Reading Journal. The Reading Journal needs to be brought into school every day to enable the teacher and teaching assistant to monitor reading and the texts that are being read.
Your child will also receive a reading task (when suitable) which will be based on the text or part of text they have been reading.
If there is ever a reason why your child has not been able to complete their home learning or reading, please inform the class teacher or teaching assistant as soon as you can.
All children will receive a Maths task or English, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (EGPS) task once a week. This task will be based around the learning the children have been completing in class and will be used to check and consolidate their understanding.

Home learning during the holidays
Home learning will be set during the holidays and will be a fun and creative project. The activities set will enable your child to show their creative side and record their pieces in a way that they wish. These can include: drawings, photographs, models, written, videos and PowerPoint to name a few.
